Achieving Your Goals with Limitless: Tailored Services in Physical Therapy and Adaptive Fitness

Studies indicate that personalized, high-intensity physical therapy is essential after a neurological injury. Additionally, regular exercise helps prevent numerous medical conditions, can slow the progression of certain neurological disorders, and enhances overall independence. Despite this knowledge, there is still a significant gap in the quality and amount of physical therapy and exercise people receive. At Limitless, we integrate our diverse services to deliver not only top-notch neurological physical therapy but also adaptive fitness, fostering comprehensive and lasting health benefits.

Understanding Neurologic Physical Therapy

Physical therapy focuses on improving specific impairments following an injury, illness, new diagnosis, or progression of a current diagnosis. It is intended to be completed on a relatively shorter time frame and often includes multiple episodes of care throughout your life.

We employ various services which fall under the umbrella of physical therapy to enhance your recovery and promote improved independence. Some of the key physical therapy services we provide include:

  • Gait Training: Increasing safety and independence with walking is often a major goal for individuals following a neurologic injury/diagnosis. We retrain your brain and body how to walk. We don't stop with just household ambulation; we'll challenge you to increase confidence walking on various surfaces and in the community.

  • Targeted Strengthening: We develop individualized interventions to address weakness in specific muscles following neurologic injury/diagnosis.

  • Balance and Motor Control: We identify the systems involved in your balance deficits and build custom programs to specifically target and improve those systems. Better balance = more confidence = more independence!

  • Transfer Training: Being able to move from one location to another is crucial for independence. There are multiple types of transfers and options on how to complete them. We help find the right type of transfer for you and work to increase your independence with them.

  • Vestibular Rehabilitation: We're specialty trained in helping individuals who are experiencing dizziness. By assessing your specific symptoms and aggravating factors, we develop a treatment plan to address and improve your dizziness.

In addition to the treatments described above, we also utilize functional electrical stimulation (FES) to improve strength, sensation, motor control/timing, and spasticity and dry needling (DN) to improve pain, tone/spasticity and muscle tightness.

The Role of Adaptive Fitness

Complementing our neurologic physical therapy, Limitless also offers adaptive fitness programs that cater to everyone, regardless of ability. These programs focus on enhancing overall endurance, strength, and balance, as well as supporting mental health.

Our adaptive fitness services are designed to meet your unique needs and include:

  • One-on-One Training Sessions: Each hour is programmed with your unique goals and needs in mind. We combine various movement patterns and equipment with adaptions to meet your where you are at.

  • Virtual Programming: Our virtual programming provides flexibility by allowing you to complete workouts on your own time and in your own space. We write custom workouts 4-5 days/week for you to complete and you have access to ask us questions at any point.

Blending Services for Optimal Results

While physical therapy is intended to be performed over a relatively shorter duration with the primary focus on specific impairments, adaptive fitness is intended to be life-long and with the goals of improving holistic function. We dedicate time to understanding your unique circumstances, diagnosis, and goals, collaborating with you to create a plan that best aids your recovery. The crucial aspect is that as you progress, your plan evolves with you. We continually update and adjust your specific treatment plan to guarantee optimal results.

This combination of services can take various forms, but often a person might begin by receiving only physical therapy. As a team, we would determine which specific treatments (such as gait training, neuromuscular re-education, balance training, functional electrical stimulation, dry needling, among others) would be part of your plan. As you progress and achieve your goals, you might no longer require physical therapy but still wish to stay active and maintain your recent improvements. This is where we can integrate our adaptive fitness services to enhance overall strength, endurance, power, and balance. If necessary, in the future, we can always initiate a new round of physical therapy treatment. With this approach, we are able to support your health and recovery long term!
